SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Faculty of Science and Humanities, Vadapalani conducted its annual sports award function recently.
Around 1000 students participated in all the events like cricket, volleyball, badminton, football, tennikoit, throwball, badminton, table tennis, carrom, chess, yoga and athletics events were conducted for both men and women students.
The Chief Guest for the function Mr. A. Muthusamy, Inspector of Income Tax, Chennai, an international volleyball player himself, urged the students to involve themselves actively in such events. He appreciated the efforts of Prof. Mohanakrishanan, Director Sports, SRM IST for being instrumental in developing sports stars of SRM IST.
Professor Mohanakrishnan, encouraged students to take part in sports as it involves the overall development of a person. He also spoke about the skills and dedication of Mr. A. Muthusamy who was once his student at SRM IST.
Dr. K. R. Anathapadmanabhan, Dean, FSH, SRM IST, Vadapalani and Dr. C. V. Jayakumar, Dean, FET, SRM IST, Vadapalani also graced the occasion. All the dignitaries distributed the prizes to the sports winners. The overall championship award for both men and women was won by the Department of Commerce, FSH, SRM IST.
Mrs. T.Thenmozhi, Physical director of SRM Vadapalani campus, extended a vote of thanks.
