Friday's golden run took Dindigul’s overall medals tally to 13 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze.
Dindigul district boxed their way into top-3 contention in the CM Trophy 2024 as they clinched three gold medals from the ring and added one in football to jump to fourth position in the overall standings on Friday.
M Sri Ram Vasihnav started Dindigul's march with a 4:1 win over Chennai's R Kishore in the college boys’ 54-57kg weight category. M Praveen Kumar added the second gold in boys’ 71-75kg category and PS Girija then broke Chennai district’s hegemony in college girls boxing event by clinching the gold medal in 57-60kg weight category.
Dindigul district also bagged gold in the college boys football event by winning all their three games. Chengalpattu won silver while Coimbatore took home the bronze.

Third-placed Salem also added a gold medal to their tally with S Kanishka winning the school girls’ chess competition with 5.5 points. Salem now has 14 gold, 11 silver and 12 bronze.
Chennai continue to top the chart with a considerable margin as they have 65 gold, 52 silver and 55 bronze to show for their efforts.
The 2024 CM Trophy is one of the largest grassroot initiatives and this edition has attracted over 33,000 participants from 38 districts and will compete across five categories – school, college students, public, government employees and differently-abled persons -- in 36 sports disciplines. Prior to the State meet, district level competitions were held across the State in which over 11 lakh players participated.
On Friday, Chennai won a total of five gold medals from the boxing ring, two in college boys and three in girls category.
Thanjavur's G Subhash grabbed the gold medal in the school boys’ 49kg weightlifting competition with a total of 158 (Snatch 73, Clean & Jerk 85). Vellore's P.V.E. Srivathchan (156kg) and P Kabish Krishnan (153kg) bagged the silver and bronze, respectively.
Chengalpattu won the college girls’ football with three wins with Cuddalore and Chennai taking home silver and bronze, respectively.
